Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How far apart should fence posts be?

Standard fence post spacing is 8 feet on center for most wood fences. For very tall fences (over 6 feet) or high-wind areas, reduce spacing to 6 feet for added strength.

How deep should fence posts be set?

Fence posts should be buried at least one-third of their total length. For a 6-foot fence, use 8-foot posts buried 2 feet deep. In cold climates, set posts below the frost line.

How many rails do I need per section?

Fences up to 5 feet tall need 2 horizontal rails per section. Fences 6 feet and taller should have 3 rails for adequate support.
